How to merge PDF files for free (no upload)
Merging PDFs is the most common PDF task there is — invoices into one statement, scanned pages into one contract, slides plus handout into one deliverable. It should take ten seconds and cost nothing.
Merge PDFs in four steps
- Open Merge PDF.
- Drop two or more PDFs — the order you drop them is the order they are combined.
- Check the combined page count shown in the result card.
- Download. Nothing was uploaded: the merge happened inside your tab.
Getting the page order right
If a document ends up in the wrong place, don't re-merge — open Re-arrange PDF pages and drag pages into position, or drop unwanted pages with Delete PDF pages. To pull a range out of the merged file again, use Split PDF.
Why the merged file is bigger than expected
- Fonts are embedded per source file — two PDFs with the same font can carry two copies of it.
- Scanned pages are images — a 20-page scan is 20 photos, and merging copies them verbatim.
- Merging never recompresses — that's a feature: your pages stay pixel-identical.
If the result is too large to email, follow reduce a PDF for email.
FAQ
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Toolsii merges PDFs with WebAssembly inside your browser tab, so confidential documents never travel over the network and nothing is stored.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
There is no fixed limit — the practical ceiling is your device's memory. Dozens of ordinary documents are fine; hundreds of large scans may be slow on a phone.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as-is, with no re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images stay identical.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not while they are encrypted. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then merge.
